Of all the things Equius has ever done, this has to be the most ridiculous. The troll is absolutely steaming with a silent rage underneath his stupid costume. It was the bluest thing he could find, and his moirail would not be satisfied with him arriving without a costume. At least it seemed somewhat regal to someone's culture. He's ditched every part of the costume but the main article. He can be seen grumbling to himself off in the corner, or near some shadow, choosing to be seen only when he absolutely needs to be.
This was the first "party" he's really been to. Are there always so many disgusting humans? Why is this keep mainly full of humans?! Perhaps he'll go and steal one of these snacks... At least there are no pumpkins in here.
So Lily has this thing where when she sees someone not having fun she must help. Everyone deserves to have fun, especially Lily's friends. This is both a blessing and a curse. Of course, once Lily finds Equius lurking in the shadows, she abandons her absurdly full plate in favor of fixing all the things.
Sometimes it sucks being Lily's friend, doesn't it?
"Hey, Equius!" She chirps with a big, big smile. "Neat costume. What are you?"
Hidden behind these dark shades, a pair of yellow eyes glares around the room. Equius is doing his best to appear as dark and mysterious as he can, but it's hard when you've got a giant bird on your costume. He sees Lily approaching and almost. ALMOST smiles. Her costume is rather... interesting.
"Oh. Hello- I'm... I am supposed to be something? What are you, then?"
He lowers his arms, the sleeves completely covering them.
"Nice. I like it. You look very nice, Lily. And I do not need fun, I've told you... Though, having you here is making it a bit more bearable. What was that you were holding?"
"Everyone needs fun. Even big badass trolls like you."
Fun is very important! I mean, what the fuck do people do with their lives if they never have fun? Nothing. Nothing is what. Only boring people don't have fun. BORING.
"What?" Lily looks over to her plate. "Oh! Food. Lots of food. Like, I've never seen so many sweets in one place! And they're all so good, you know?" No. Lily. Stop raving about food. Just stop. Nobody cares about your food. "Wait! No, we're talking about fun right now. Are you really gonna stay in the corner the whole time?"
"Language Lily. We've been over this, I will... try to enjoy myself, I guess."
Fun is not everything, Lily! There is aggression. There is fighting! And working out, of course.
"What types of food...? And what else would I be doing. There is nothing to do here but talk to strangers, and I do not find very much comfort in the fact that there are so many humans here."
"Good food! Lots of pumpkin stuff." Pause. "... Oh, wow, I hope it's not made from the pumpkins we killed."
That would be totally gross.
"Come on, you could be dancing, or mingling, or... eating, I guess." Lily pouts. "There's nothing wrong with humans, Eq, they're just like us but weaker."
"No. Mingle. Mangling is bad. We are not mangling anybody tonight." You'd think Lily, after living underground for 4 years, would be the socially inept one. "And yeah, I've practiced a little -"
Wait. Wait a second.
"Wait. Stop. Look at me." Hands on hips. "What is your problem with humans?"
"What's mingling? I don't understand. I thought you wanted me to have fun, hm?"
He glances back, curiously. He thought it would be obvious, why he dislikes humans.
"Their blood is red. Red is the lowest you can get on the hemospectrum, Lily. Also they, for the most part, carry themselves with a rude sort of crass behavior that is absolutely despicable."
He blinks, messing with the sleeves of his robe rather casually.
"Yes, but you carry yourself with a certain grace that more than makes up for it. Your strength and skill and eyes are unlike any other human's. I did not mean to group you in with those types of humans."
He folds his arms, sleeves drooping rather low. Why is she taking offense to this? MUST BE A HUMAN THING.
"Umm..." Lily doesn't really know what her feelings are doing, and not in the nice way. Her crippling internal self-esteem issues aren't feeling so hot right now. Her blood's red, which is apparently a huge flaw, but her abilities make up for it? Then -
"Uh..." Say something, moron. "Would you still like me if I wasn't strong...?"
"Well, of course I would-... more than likely- somewhat- definitely. For one, you are not rude like the others. At least not to me. You are actually genuinely pleasant. Also you actually erm-...admire the color of my blood... unlike others who would consider it weird or distasteful.."
The damage is done. Lily is forever going to think she isn't good enough. Nice, Equius! Great job! Still, Lily puts on a shaky smile. She can't let her silly emotions ruin the party!
"Right. Uh, back to... the... Well, mingling, it's when you... talk to people. Make friends. Join conversations and stuff...?"

Lily looks down at her outfit. So cute! Man, does Lily have a sense of fashion or what? Answer: hell yes.
"Why are you all alone over here? It's a party. You're supposed to have fun!"

What word can Equius use that is not "cute"

He takes a few steps closer to the plate, not being able to resist the smell of the food.
"Hm-...yes. we will eat, later... Have you practiced your dancing?"
