Jael had initially decided to opt out of the party due to her inability to easily communicate with other people. But, eventually, her desire to get away from the whispering overrides her hesitation. Not long before the party starts, Jael slips into the clothier's tower and grabs the first costume to catch her interest.

She enters the Great Hall and makes a beeline for a spot against the wall. Jael is just going to languish against the wall for now.
