Tammy has wandered over to eye the food with trepidation. She's staying as far away from those pumpkin-based treats as possible, and is studying the shark-sheep meat the way anyone who has never seen such a thing would be prone to do.
When she glances over ad spies Iriel it takes her a moment to understand why she looks familiar. It's not until she has the name to go with it that she steps over. Doubtless she is not easy to overlook, considering her costume.
That was quite the costume. Iriel looked at Tammy, and a slow, wide smile spread on her face.
"Didn't track him down after all," she said, taking another bite of meat. "Got distracted by something other than sweet talking a chef into sharing his wares. Quite the costume you've got there, Tammy."
"Likewise." It was a job not to be too obvious as she took in the costume Iriel had donned for the night. To say that it suited her really didn't do it justice, but Tammy kept that thought to herself. Doubtless others had already told Iriel this, and they hadn't known each other that long. No sense in making things awkward between them.
"And that's a shame. Though I have to say, I'm not too eager for more pumpkin pie right now."
"Thanks," she said, noticing and not giving too much thought to checking out her costume. After all, they were all in costumes. It was to be expected. "And yeah, don't think I can look at pumpkin anything the same way anymore. Taste for it is ruined pretty damn badly."
Iriel looked around the party with a tilt of her head, then back to Tammy.
No lie about the pumpkin stuff. Tammy nodded her agreement and accompanied it with a little shudder. She wondered if it would always be ruined for her like this, or if, someday, she might be able to crunch through a handful of baked pumpkin seeds again. Somehow she doubted it. Shame.
"At Halloween parties in general, yes. At this one specifically? I wouldn't dare assume I had any idea what might happen tonight." Tammy tilted her head, fiddling with her wand. "Anyone tipped you off on what to expect?"
"No tips about tonight. What usually happens?" she asked, looking around. Sure everything seemed alright. Spooky for a party, but still a party. Iriel opted for some candy, rather than a drink, and continued surveying the room. There were just too many things happening, too many "themes" and not all of them seemed cohesive. Not without explanation, in any case.
"Usually eating, socializing, bobbing for apples, scary stories..." Tammy glanced at the candy, clearly debating if she should risk it. Other people were eating it and there didn't seem to be any adverse effects, but then again, that might change. And she really didn't relish getting sick. Or being turned into a pumpkin or something. She was beginning to think that with this place, you just never knew. "Of course, we're basically living in a scary story and the apples here might bite back."

"So how was the pie?"
