She had debated not going. She hadn't wanted to go. Not while Kloe was alone, unguarded, and most probably lonely. But Alex had gone to such lengths to make this beautiful costume-dress for her, and Aara did not want to let her friends down. She had promised quite a few friends a dance this evening. Besides that, Kloe was off in seclusion anyway, trying to heal the sickness she could spread. Aara didn't quite understand, but she admired her for it. Her hoped with everything in her Sycora could manage to do something. So, hesitantly, heart fluttering like a bird, Aara slowly walks into the Great Hall and looks around with wide-eyed delight. The food looked delicious, and everyone was dressed in ways Aara had never before seen. A smile trembles across her lips, and she walks further into the room. For a moment, she forgets the bright color of her lovely gown. She forgets the angst and worry and agony of the past two weeks

She wondered about that. She also wondered if he would need food at the Keep, since things worked differently here than normal. When Sandrath suddenly moved closer, looping his arm through hers, Aara blushed lightly and found she was holding her breath. With a soft exhale, she smiles, finding her muscles relaxing at his change in nearness. She supposed it would take a while to understand him. For the moment, she would enjoy herself and dance.
He lead them back to the dance floor and placed his hands where they needed to be for the dance. He made sure to be slow but elegant with his moves, making sure Aara wouldn't fall behind or look bad.
At least, he didn't have to think too much while dancing. He was grateful for that.
It was apparently inevitable that Kloe was going to the party. She hadn't chosen to, of course. A certain someone had knocked insistently on her door and then forced convinced her into her costume.
And then she was subsequently dragged here.
So.
Here she was. Approaching Aara so she could get away from Rapunzel for at least a stinking minute.
Aara jumped, eyes wide as she whirled around, wondering if her ears were deceiving her. Apparently they weren't, because Kloe stood there in costume, and Aara thought she never looked better.
Laughing, relieved tears springing to her eyes, Aara sprang forward.
Better stop her now, Kloe, or it'll be too late and Aara will have wrapped her in a hug.
Turning back to look at Kloe in confusion, Aara gives a light laugh at her expression. Nothing could possibly bring Aara down tonight. Not now that she knowingly was able to share this experience with her friend.
Zhaneel herself is looking through those gathered, hoping that she is able to easily recognize her own friends amongst all those costumed. Her crest raises slightly as she catches sight of Aara, eyes widening in delight.
"Aara, you look lovely!!"
She pads over toward her sister, thinking it rather amazing that the colors she angha is wearing match her own dyed feathers as if planned!
Duuuuuuuuuuude awesome! <333angha_firebirdOctober 31 2011, 05:12:18 UTC
When Aara turns to her dearest friend, she gasps in pure awe and wonderment.
"Oh, glory..."
She slowly meets her sister, wide eyes taking her in.
"You are the most beautiful sight I ever set eyes on." Aara meant it. She couldn't get over the beautifully bright colors, and her fingers itch to delve into them. Zhaneel's exclamation has a deep blush rising to Aara's cheeks, however. Ducking her head, Aara fiddles slightly.
"You are certain? I am not accustomed to wearing such colors, and it is such a beautiful gown. It must have taken hours to make."
Still. Aara cannot help the happy flutter of her heart, hearing such praise, and a tiny smile teases her lips.
He was on his way out of the way -- if that made any sense. Being at the center of the party didn't bode well for anyone. Not after the charged debate over the journals beforehand. He needed to stay calm, stay quiet. And the best chance of that was for him to stay off to one side.
To do so, he had to push past people. Including a strange girl who was giggling. He didn't duck his head, didn't bow out -- he walked past confidently.
Aara hadn't been paying attention to that side of the room. As it was, her face was now lifted to the ceiling, and the decorations on the walls. So it was with a startled, wide gaze as she turned to look at the man who voiced his presence. Something niggling in the back of her mind, but she dismissed it. He seemed to be a man on a mission at the moment, and her breath caught in her throat as her feet seemed rooted to the ground.
"Ah! Sorry." She quickly moved to back out of his way, those wide, observant eyes of hers watching him. She may not have moved out of his way fast enough for his liking, however.

So she froze to the spot and stared as Aara came at her.
"The fuck are you crying for?"
Reply
"I'm crying because I'm happy. You came."
Reply
"You seem more upset than happy."
Reply
"I am happy. This I swear."
See the building excitement on Aara's face? The way her eyes sparkle and lips curl?
"Kloe--let's dance!" Aara saw no reason as to why they shouldn't anyway, and tugs lightly on Kloe's hand.

Kloe's expression is... pretty odd. But she doesn't pull her hand away. She just doesn't move in general.
"I don't dance."
Kloe speak for: I have never danced before ever.
Reply
"You must! Perhaps you never learned, or tried?"
Still Aara tugs, this time with both hands.
"The music is so lively! Let's just... let go."

Slowly, he turns back around, staring at her for a good, long moment.
"Do I know you?"
