Jael starts violently before reaching up to cover her ears, wincing at the sudden noise. It's bad enough when she has time to brace herself, but it's practically painful when she has no warning.

When Jael opens her eyes from the wince, she pales as she watches the suddenly headless guests drop the ground. She drops her hands to cover her mouth, staring at the nearest body in horror.

Did it never end? This was just like that stupid boat. Something weird or terrible always happened at the parties.

She knew she should have stayed in her room.
