Bryn had made her way to the training yard with only a little trouble. She wasn't there seeking entertainment, but out of concern for her friend who was supposedly entering combat with another guest. This entire situation seemed outdated in extremes, and Bryn didn't like it at all.

She sat there in confusion as the panther was brought out, her brow furrowed in confusion. Did combat include wild animals? Bryn didn't exactly relish the idea of watching anyone kill a creature like that, especially as it was so close to her own alternate form.

Shoulders hunched, she sat and watched.

[Alex's gaze moves with the Headsman, unblinking and clearly strained. The movement behind him, however, draws his attention once more and Alex shifts as if to move forward. His ears pin and his heart and stomach lurch painfully at the sight before him; Nick held by the throat in the jaws of the tiger.]

Nick!! NO!!

[It's all he can do to not leap past the Headsman, but it's already to late. The panther's limp body falls to the Training Yard floor and the tiger collapses a moment later.

Practically seething with a mixture of rage and sorrow, Nick's gaze slowly rises and meets the Headsman's once more. When he speaks, his voice is low and mirroring that gaze so well.]

Can I go now?

The Headsman pauses a moment, then lowers his axe. He gives a single, solemn nod. The fight is over; the deed is done; justice has been served. Alex may leave.

Alex doesn't move back to the fence line now that the Headsman is allowing him movement. Instead, his form weaves around and moves further into the Yard and toward the other pairs of cats. There is no malice or threat in his motion, and he's well aware he's likely still in the Headsman's gaze.

The Headsman does indeed watch, but he does not interfere. It's not his place anymore.
