Malkus had done a pretty good job at laying low up in the keep up until tonight, really only going out and about to snag a bit of food here and there. Ever since that run in with the spiders, Malkus isn't quite sure what to think of this place. Sure, they're gone but what's stopping them from coming back and infesting the place again?

Our doctor will just have to man up and deal with it, though! Can't spend forever stuck up in his room after all, right? Tonight, Malkus is feeling adventurous and some can say even a bit daring.

He can be found tip toeing down the hallway near his room, carrying his medic bag with his journal this time! Perhaps he can take a few notes of the area while he's out.

Well, Malkus .. perhaps you should have laid low for a bit longer than you chose to, because now you're being stalked.

Yeah, stalked. You know that niggling feeling you have in the back of your shoulders? The rising of hair along the back of your neck and arms? That feeling that maybe, just maybe, you should have quelled your adventures for another evening?

Well, that's because all those instinctive little hints are correct. You have an approximately 300 pound leopard creeping up on you from behind, without an ounce of regret or notion about how 'unfair' stalking from behind is.

Indeed he does get a slight feeling of caution rising up the back of his neck but what could possibly be prowling the halls at this hour? Still, Malkus glances from side to side, failing to turn around and see the leopard just yet. Oh how fun it is to sneak around like this! Malkus feels invisable, though obviously not, it's fun to pretend when you're alone like this! The doctor must seem rather silly hunched over, trying to step quietly.

He turns a corner and begins to make his way for the stairs, not taking much comfort in this "you're being watched" feeling. He's alone though, he's sure of it...Right?

Malkus, honey, you should really learn to listen to those inner voices .. you'll find that they rarely lead you astray in places like this. When a place is really, really quiet, but you still feel like you're being watched you will more than likely find either a monster, a serial killer, or a seemingly innocent looking child (that ultimately leads you to your death as well.)

Safely away from the barracks room that he watched this one exit, Alex licks his lips, hunkering down against the stone floor. The man turns a corner and he hurries to follow, flattening again to watch as he approaches the stairs. With a snarl, he springs forward, bum rushing the poor masked plague doctor just at the top of them. Malkus, I hope you have a relatively good sense of balance ..

A list of ideas rolls through his brain for tonight. What should Malkus do? Mess around the thermal pools? Explore the edge of the forest or the lake? It's been quite awhile since he's felt so-... what's that sound?

Malkus turns his head just quickly enough to see a massive something rushing at him from the corner of his eye. The next thing he sees is a number of stairs quickly coming at the side of his face. The main feeling flowing through him is pain with a bit of horrified confusion. Balance? No such thing, friend. The moment Alex makes contact with Malkus, he may as well have tackled a rag doll. The instant Malkus hits the stairs, he lets out a loud painful yelp as his bag is thrown far from him. His hat is nowhere to be found, knocked clear off his head the moment this beast made impact.

The stunned Malkus can't do much but tumble down the remaining few steps as he tries to understand what the hell's happening.

I've a much better idea, Malkus! How about tonight you get eaten by a wereleopard? Sound like a plan? 8D

Alex connects solidly with Malkus and the poor man doesn't have a prayer of keeping his balance. For a moment there is weightlessness and then they are toppling. Just before the man beneath him connects with the first stone step, Alex leaps free of him and lands at the bottom of the flight.

He stands there watching the doctor's pained tumble with a look of eagerness that is certain to alarm even the most stalwart of men. When Malkus' fall ends, Alex darts forward and sinks his fangs into the closest limb to him, intent on dragging the man off to some corner.

After flailing and tumbling down the remaining steps, Malkus finally has a moment to regain himself, he looks up at whatever it was and- Alright well perhaps he doesn't have a moment as there are a large set of jaws closing in on his upper arm, their teeth cutting through his sleeve rather easily and into his arm itself. Well at least he can see it now! What in gods name is it? The doctor stares at the beasts face, almost in disbelief that he's being attacked and dragged- No no-

No this is real, that's certainly real pain shooting through him and that's most certainly an audible crack from his bone. At this point, the doctor feels it's only right to panic, kicking at Alex and yelling a panicked tone that even he was unfamiliar with. There's only one thing on his mind right now and that's getting this monster to let go of his arm. And, of course, to not be eaten.

Did someone order a man with a big sword? stoicguardian May 20 2011, 02:08:35 UTC
The Keep was quiet most nights. And that was a good thing. Auron could appreciate it at least. It was the space he needed to think and clear his head and try to stop thinking about Yuna (which was hard, mind you.) and how much he missed her.

Anyway, the peace of the Keep seemed to be broken this night. Auron could make out the cries of another and he's extremely grateful to Lord Deior for not taking his weapon. Everything else is forgot as Auron runs toward the source of the noise and when he sees the fiend attacking that bird man, he was quick to draw his blade and remove his arm from his sleeve.

"Enough!" He yells to get the beasts attention.

OH HAI, AURON! 8D timid_kitty May 20 2011, 14:21:18 UTC
Alex's efforts are rewarded with the salty tang of blood as his fangs easily puncture the man's upper arm. He begins to drag him, a hearty crack issuing from the same arm bringing a soft, almost purr-like sound from behind Malkus' arm.

Awww, lookit, Malkus! He's purring! :D

Then the gangly limbed plague doctor begins to flail and struggle, which not only makes things decidedly painful for him, it also makes dragging the man decidedly difficult for Alex.

With a snarl of anger, the over-sized leopard adds pressure and jerks his head hard to the right in attempt to still the struggles. He swallows the blood that fills his maw, growl rumbling against Malkus' arm.

He would continue dragging him off to some secluded niche in the hallway, but then there is yet another interruption to his otherwise straightforward plan; a tall figure appears, brandishing a LARGE blade ( ... )

A warm wetness seeps down his sleeve and Malkus can immediately tell what it is. Blood. And lots of it. He's bleeding badly, but thankfully this monsters teeth are no longer tearing him up and that causes one thought to spring into his head. Whoever this man is, Malkus is eternally grateful and won't soon forget- "A-Augh!"

Ow god, no time for grateful admiration. Escape first, give thanks to the heroic stranger later. Clutching his arm against his side with his hand, Malkus scrambles to his feet and bolts, taking a moment to glance back at the man before stumbling away with a slight limp. That tumble turned out to be worse than Malkus had expected as there's a sharp pain shooting through his leg as well as his arm.

Auron watched Malkus flee for the briefest of moments before turning his attention back to Alex. "This is your chance to stand down," he said, propping his blade against his shoulder and crouching into a fighting stance.

Though, as Alex bared his bloodied teeth, it would seem the fiend had made up his mind. Auron simply smiled behind his cowl and nodded. "As you wish."

With Malkus out of sight and out of mind, Alex turns his full attention to the armed man before him. He's offered a chance to stand down and he very nearly snorts in amusement, but then the man repositions himself and amusement slips from his feline features.

His lips curl slightly and a low growl rumbles in his throat as the threat is made apparent. He hadn't done anything to bother this man yet, but he was all to happy to comply if it meant bloodshed.

"Less talk," he grates out around the snarl, fangs flashing as he swipes at the air before him.

Auron was done talking before you even said anything, Alex. He was simply waiting for the leopard to make the first move. When Alex swiped his paw, the guardian was ready. He swung his sword at such a frightful speed, it seemed nearly impossible, considering the girth of it.

Alex is certainly not expecting the speed with which Auron strikes with his sword and very nearly doesn't dodge in time. Well, this was game on then, wasn't it?

He shifts to the side and as the blade passes, he darts in, fangs and claws at the ready. He's not being picky about what he connects to, simply going for the first blood and trying to keep from the path of the ridiculously large blade.

Game on indeed.

The bracer Auron wears manages to protect his wrist from Alex's jaws, unfortunately the claws catch into his side. This earns a grunt from the warrior, but does not deter him. He shifts his weight, in an attempt to keep his balance while he swings his sword again. Too much momentum could be a bad thing. But he's got to get Alex to let go.

Alex feels his teeth connect to the bracer and snarls in frustration, however the scent of blood fills the hall as his claws connect and rake against Auron's side. Like any cat, the brief snag makes him curl his toes before ripping away .. it's a 'do the most damage' thing. Fun, huh?

As Auron swings again, Alex is still holding onto his wrist and by the time he sees the blade coming, he can't quite get far enough away. The blade connects and slices just as he lets go and darts to one side, slicing into his left shoulder.

The leopard yowls and darts to the side, blood spilling from the wound and causing an instant favoring of the limb. Lip curled in anger and pain, he hisses and dives in under the swing slashing for the torso while snapping dangerously at his face.

Give 'im a kiss, Auron!
