Bonfire Party!

It was amazing how much work was necessary for a small get together, but also how quickly and easily it went with the help of another person. Especially when that person happened to be on staff ( Read more... )

The last time Kloe went to a bonfire party, brain-eating bears showed up and killed people. It wasn't exactly her kind of party, not that she ever normally went to them in the first place. And besides, she had no idea who Bryn was anyway.

But Kloe had decided to show up regardless. Her boredom really knew no bounds. (She almost wished there were zombies here for her to kill. Almost.)

Yet simply because she had arrived didn't mean she had any real intention to interact. She didn't know anyone, she didn't care to know anyone, and frankly she didn't believe anyone cared to know her, either. Anyone she would've been inclined to talk to unfortunately wasn't at the Keep as far as she could tell, or they didn't remember her, as was the case with Zhaneel. So instead Kloe lingered away from the crowd alone, observing. (In case other brain-eating animals decided to show up).

At least the punch was good.

Oh Kloe. You should be paying better attention to your drink. Cause a little Satyros girl is mistaking yours for hers and well, that's not good. Cause guess who's taking a niiiice little sip.

Oh wait.

That's not her cup.

Whoops. Aht'll just...sneak away...before she's noticed.

And as Aht sneaks away in comes distraction in the form of a gryphon. Zhaneel pads toward Kloe, intent on perusing the table of goodies when she sees the good doctor. She slows her steps and fluffs her facial feather, beak gaping slightly as her gaze settles on the human.

"Good evening, Kloe .. I trust you are well?"

It's a good thing Zhaneel came along, because Kloe didn't notice Aht at all! She nods her head in the direction of the gryphon and gives an indifferent shrug.

"As well as I could be," she replied, scratching her cheek absentmindedly. "Is it impossible to fly away from this place, too?"

Well, see! She did something good .. well, good for Aht, although not good for anyone else in residence at the Keep! :D BUMMER!

At Kloe's shrug she moves to sit next to her, settling her haunches onto the ground. She tilts her head slightly, ear tufts flicking forward. She then nods her beak once in affirmation.

"Above grounds, yes .. there is a ceiling of sourts that limits how high we can fly .. I have not tried to cross the lake yet and check the outer boundaries, but that is my intention in the next few days. I would rather know if it is possible to pass the 'curtain' around the Keep, or if we are, in fact, stuck in this limited area."

Or would be if she wasn't due for horrible pain-filled death.

Kloe nods her head slightly. Some kind of... ceiling would at least explain why she can't see any damn sun (she'll probably never let that go), but it didn't explain why she could still see the sky. And stars. She really doesn't like this magic thing one bit.

"Great. Just don't do anything stupid. Goodness knows they might try and kill you if you try to test the boundaries."

Yeah, the lack of a real sun was rather alarming, actually; especially when the moon was still up there, and the stars. :| Magic was completely normal on her world, and always had been, but certain things were just supposed to be there and the sun was one of them.

She chortles softly, nodding her beak once. "I spoke with Isabel .. she is one of the staff members. She did not speak of any punishment, but indicated that I should be careful when attempting to get close to it."

She had also specifically advised not straying beyond the magical curtain, but it was all in the details, right?

"I haven't met Isabel." And Kloe doesn't really care to ever meet her.

"Don't die or anything when you go."

"I have not met her outside of a conversation through the pages of my journal, but she seems kind enough .. I'd not have expected one of those that staff the Keep to offer a word of advice by any degree."

She really wasn't anywhere near as nice as Zhaneel thought her to be .. it would be interesting when the two met face to face at some point.

The last earns Kloe a look, ears flicking forward before pinning against her skull. "I've certainly no intention of such .. I am rather attached to my skin .."

Lies, but she'd rather choose the path of her own demise rather than have it chosen for her. In this case, it was most definitely already decided .. Bummer.

She eyes the human for a beat before shifting on her haunches to face her more directly. With little more warning than that adjustment, Zhaneel leans in and bumps her head fondly against Kloe's midsection. She leans there rather contently, every feather of her body fluffing up simultaneously. She likes you, Kloe.

"Thank you for your concern," comes her soft response.

Kloe is more than a little surprised by Zhaneel's action. She stares down at her, eyes slightly widened and shoulders rolled back. Not only was this apparent display of... affection completely unexpected, but the close contact is alarming.

She purses her lips, feeling awkward, and slowly raises her hand to pat Zhaneel on the top of her head.

"...Yeah. No problem."

Zhaneel feels Kloe tense up as soon as she nestles her head in, but a moment later when she feels the girls' hand on her head, she exhales slowly. Her feathers flatten back into place, but she makes no move to pull away just yet.

Nope, she's rather like a big ole feathered puppy just now. The affection she has for Kloe was brought on quickly as compared to some of the other friendships she'd formed, but the woman had known her before coming here. This was enough for the young gryphon to want to reach out to the doctor and, so long as Kloe didn't kick her away, she'd not go anywhere anytime soon.

She shifts ever so slightly, head tilting so she can study the woman with one luminous eye. "Might I ask that you also try to keep yourself safe?"

Kloe lets out something between a laugh and a sigh.

"Yeah, you don't have to worry. I don't plan on getting myself into any trouble anytime soon."

The fact that she died back in Vertiline still haunts her. It really isn't something she wants to repeat. Ever.

She wasn't going to get away from everyone that easily - Rapunzel was making a beeline for her.

"Kloe! Isn't the punch delicious?!

Oh hey bubbly blue-eyed chick. Kloe stares at her as she approaches and narrows her eyes.

"Yeah, it's nectar of the damn gods."

Remember her Kloe? Because she remembers youuu.

"The...what?" She has no idea what that really means, but she assumes that means the woman likes it.

"...Nevermind."

Kloe takes a drink from her cup and sets it down nearby.

"Do you need something?" Because that's the only reason Kloe could think of for some stranger coming up to her.
