It was amazing how much work was necessary for a small get together, but also how quickly and easily it went with the help of another person. Especially when that person happened to be on staff

The instant Bryn saw Ironhide, she was filled with dismay. How could she have been so thoughtless? He couldn't partake of the food or drinks, and did robots even enjoy the warmth of a bonfire?
Oh gosh, oh gosh, how terribly rude of her!
She rushed over to the giant autobot with an expression of forced cheerfulness, though beneath it was obvious worry.
"Ironhide! I'm so glad to see you came," she said.
He liked the heat. It was better than the cold, especially on his old frame. But it wasn't any sort of "rudeness" that kept him on the outskirts of the party. Just old memories. And a feeling of something missing.
He'd probably shifted his weight to lean against an invisible shoulder three times by now.
When the woman approached, he nodded to her, folding his arms -- more out of a need to do something with his hands than anything else.
Bryn wasn't used to someone questioning a comment like that, but it was easy enough to respond with a sincere nod.
"Well yes, of course I am," she said. No matter how uncomfortable the last couple times they had spoken had been, she was glad to see the large robot now. "Although I'm afraid I didn't think about refreshments for non-humans," she added, biting her lower lip.
"Is there something I could try to get for you?" she asked, trying to be hospitable to make up for her oversight.
"Oh I see, energon?" she asked quietly. The word didn't sound familiar to her, but it made sense to her that whatever powered her mechanical friend was something she shouldn't handle. "Well I guess I feel a bit better knowing that...that anything I could have gotten for you I shouldn't be touching anyway."
She paused a beat.
"Have you been keeping busy lately?" she asked, not sure what to speak of with Ironhide. Her mind raced for better subjects but came up short.
"Are you looking for things to do?" she asked, tilting her head at him. It had never occurred to her until now, but she realized she had never asked him what he did with himself during the day.
Bryn had cooking and piano playing, reading and attempts at sewing and all sorts of things.
What did a giant robot do to keep themselves busy?
They replayed old memory files and punched trees into submission for the lack of bees to assault. In short, not much. And he's running out of steam -- both literally and metaphorically.
"Guess I could be," he admitted, with a little shrug. "Less to do here than... elsewhere."
"Elsewhere being that ship that you all sometimes talk about?" she asked carefully, not sure she really wanted to get into a discussion about this place that Ironhide claimed to know her from, that she'd just never heard of before.
"Perhaps you and I could find some sort of project to keep us occupied?" she continued, trying to think about what she and an Autobot could do to keep busy.
He left it at that. The party atmosphere combined with all the missing people made him want a distraction more than a discussion. Then he tilted his head, frowning faintly.
"Yes, although I don't know what specifically," she replied, mind working to think of something. "There must be some sort of thing we could take on to keep our minds off things. Do you have any specific skills or anything that maybe you could put toward some sort of...end goal?"

"I would not try, were I you," he told her, with a shrug. "Probably bad for humans to contact energon."
There wasn't anything derisive or angry in his voice. He honestly just sounded tired.

And other times, it was explosive, turned into weaponry by the big Autobot. He was proud of it, too. But there was no real need to get into that here.
He shrugged. "Not as busy as is necessary."
Necessary to keep his mind off... things.
