She was familiar with Bryn back on the ship, yes, but this was a different Bryn, and they'd only spoken once. She also wasn't very comfortable leaving the barracks for a long period of time yet.
But she forced herself to go anyway. It was the polite thing to do.
Much like herself, Mimmi instantly gravitated over near the food, and luckily she spotted Xanth nearby. That made her feel slightly better about the unfamiliar crowd.
"You should not shove food in your mouth like that, Xanth."
By the time Mimmi returned, Xanth had stopped coughing, but his eyes still watered and he rubbed at his throat. He offered her a crooked smile, then took the drink from her and downed it in a few gulps.
He cleared his throat, then self-consciously laughed. "Th-- thanks. You-- y-you, um, h-had a point, I-- I guess..."
"Good, g-good. It's been... q-quiet." Xanth drummed his fingers against his cup, looking down into it. "I--I like that. At-- a-at least for-- for now." After so long on the Elegante, Xanth would much prefer the pain of boredom to the pain of mental and physical horror.
"I am afraid I get a bit restless in the quiet, now." Mimmi was much more accustomed to he eccentricities of the Elegante and it made her feel uneasy that... nothing really had happened in the keep since her arrival.
Xanth shrugged one shoulder. "It's-- o-one or-- th-the other, I guess? E-Either there's-- t-too much excitement, a-and we're-- w-we're all... y-you know... or there's-- n-not enough, a-and, we're bored."
He understood her frustration, at least partially. As much as Xanth enjoyed the peace, his guard was up. There should be something looming on the horizon.

Alarmed, Mimmi made a beeline for the drink table, grabs a glass of punch, and heads back over. She hands it to Xanth lickety-split.
