Parties weren’t really Megamind’s shtick - he wasn’t used to casual social interactions where one had to make small talk in order to survive drowning in a sea of meaningless drivel. He was usually far more concerned with presentation and making an appearance and an impression (and avoiding getting caught) than sticking around to chit chat.
This was an entirely new ball game for him.
Still, he’d seen Bryn’s invite and he would be hard pressed to say no to her. In fact, he’s coming to the grudging realization that he isn’t able to say no to her, much to his chagrin and overall irritation.
He had something for her, too - nothing big, but with what he was able to get from Rem, coupled with the use of his dehydration gun, he had come up with something he rather thought she’d like. Or at least, he’d hoped she would. He’d spent an ungodly amount of time on it, scouring the Keep for spare pieces and random odds and ends to craft it, and thankfully his gun, with the right amount of direction, could serve as a welding tool (and lacquering

"...Why are you hiding the fact that it's your date of birth?" He was a bit bewildered by this. Humans, he knew, considered this to be a rather important date. Roxanne always threw a fit when he kidnapped her on her birthday even though he had made a point to do the smallest of somethings for her - and Minion always made him a cake for his.
So why would Bryn not tell people it was hers? Certainly she would want people to know.
Unless it was an odd custom of her world that he was, as of yet, unaware of.
"Oh, well, I..." she began, and her cheeks went red with embarrassment. "To volunteer such a thing might have, well, I didn't want people to be saddled with a sense of obligation if I were to tell them out of the blue, without their asking. And worse still, I didn't...I didn't want to look...pathetic. Throwing a birthday party for myself. I still wanted to see everyone of course so...I threw the party for all of you. So I get to see everyone on my birthday. There's no obligation or stress or worrying. Everyone's just enjoying themselves."
He'd get that, right? It would make sense.
"It's not that I'm hiding it, it's just that no one asked so..." Bryn trailed off, and finally just gave him a smile. "I didn't want people to get the wrong idea and I didn't want my birthday to pass without doing something special."
He stared at her for a few moments, mouth hanging slightly open in mild shock.
That...that was...
"That is incredibly selfless of you." He managed finally, eyes taking her in as he regarded her in a new light. 'Selflessness' was a new thing to him - something he was still learning about, especially lately.
"I'm not sure if it's entirely selfless to throw a party so you can have all of your friends to yourself on your birthday," she replied wryly. "It wasn't without benefit to me, really."
Really, the whole situation was a bit murky to call it one way or the other.
"You'll keep it a secret this year, won't you?" she asked quietly. "Alex is the only other person who knows and I told him he could fuss next year if he wanted but...this year I think I'd rather like it to stay quiet if that's alright."
And that earned herself a wry look and a rather proud little smile.
So, she did have it in her to be the tiniest bit selfish, after all.
Good.
"If...if that's what you would prefer, I will keep it to myself." Though the idea of being here a whole, full year is slightly horrifying to him, he keeps that hidden.
This was her night, for her enjoyment.
The fact that he caught himself even considering that little fact was enough to make him pause, though he plows ahead to cover it.
"Your secret is safe with me. I might be a villain, but I am a man of my word. I do have my integrity."
