Isabella for her part was waiting for him. She had gathered some food- bread and apples, knowing that time did not travel the same in the tunnels as it did the world outside- and a spool of string.
She is on her feet as soon as she heard the tell-tale sounds of hooves on stone, "Tumnus! Are-" She blinks, he's very wet," Are you alright?"
Tumnus offers a weary smile as he spots Isabella clambering up to her feet. His bare torso is dripping and much the same can be said for his cloven lower half. He looks over her collection of items, nodding in satisfaction and then blinks, looking back up at her.
"Hmm? Oh.." He looks down at himself and then back up, smiling weakly before shaking himself out and flinging droplets every which way. Shaking out one hoof, balancing rather nicely on the other in the process, he nods.
"Oh, y-yes. I simply gathered a lantern f-from the stables... I also brought along some food and made a torch. With any luck we should be fine, I think."
That was barring nothing went wrong and some strange gust of wind didn't blow out their torch. >_>
That was also assuming they were taking anything -lit- with them.
"Come next to the fire, and warm up some," she moves so that he could take a seat if he wanted.
She nods and the smile is a triumphant one. She has an idea, and she is sure that it is a clever one," I have. I think- I want to mark where I have gone down those twisting paths. This way, I'll be able to find my way back."
She unravels the red string a little bit, "If you would hold the other end?"
Oh indeed! A whole lot more fun if they don't take light with them at all.
Tumnus smiles as she asks him toward the fire, clipping forward toward the flickering flame and chafing his hands together after setting down the lantern. He then glances sidelong at the angel-girl as she explains the reason for bringing along string.
"Ahh... like the Greek Mythos Lucy told me about... using the string to mark your place through the l-labyrinth?"
Tumnus is momentarily very proud to have remembered that particular story of the Greek hero... but then his smile slips a touch and he steps away from the fire.
"Hold it? I was rather expecting to travel along the t-tunnels with you, Isabella."
Oh, well that was a rather solid punch to the gut. The faun shifts a bit, clearing his throat and adding. "But if you would rather I stayed..." He trails off awkwardly.
