Bryn had heard from her parents countless times that one should never strive to be the first to a party, or the last. That when someone said a party was to start, it didn't mean to be there at the starting point. It was about appearances of course. To be prompt but not eager.
Now that she was at the Keep, Bryn had let a lot of these things her parents taught her fall to the wayside.
She headed for the stable tavern as soon as Bobby's invitation went out, and peeked her head in.
Despite fiddling around with his ice sculptures, Bobby had been keeping an eye on the door, waiting to see if anyone'd come. He wouldn't admit that, of course, not readily anyway.
But it meant he saw Bryn peeking her head in pretty quickly, and headed over with a smile.
"Hi Bobby!" she replied, stepping in. Her eyes shifted to the ice sculptures around the room. It never failed to impress her what he could do with his mutant ability. It was astonishing, and beautiful.
She came in empty handed, but after a moment of debate, she walked forward to offer him a hug. "Happy birthday! How does twenty-one feel?"
Bobby was more than happy to accept the hug, hugging her back cheerfully.
Then he laughed a bit. "Roughly the same as twenty, actually, especially since I'm not likely to get carded here. I guess it does feel like a little bit of a milestone, though."
Finally, a break from the monotony of daily Keep life. Veronica doesn't take long to show up at the tavern, giving the ice sculptures an impressed look as she headed behind the bar.
Jacob was kind of looking forward to this, really. He didn't know Bobby at all, but making new friends was good, and he hadn't really partied or even got together with people since he got here. (That time when the sun went out didn't quite count, given the circumstances.) So he headed over shortly after Bobby made the announcement.
The ice statues were weird, but kind of interesting. It seems someone took a lot of time on them! (Lol, no.) Jacob can't help but check them out...well, after he grabs and drink and finds the host to say hi.
Bobby'd already started on the drinking a bit, but nothing too bad. Mostly because some people he didn't know had said they'd be coming, and he wanted to at least be able to say hello to them before getting any level of intoxicated.
So when he spotted a guy he didn't recognize, Bobby headed over with a smile. "Hey! I'm Bobby."
Jacob smiles back. "Ah, the birthday boy. Nice to meet you! I'm Jacob...I don't remember if I told you that over the journals or not. I hope you're having a good birthday so far."
Tahlia walked into the tavern a little hesitantly. Her expression lit up instantly when she saw the ice sculptures. She scampered up to them and started poking them with interest.
Another person Bobby didn't recognize! He had a guess as to who she was, but didn't want to actually call her by name, in case she was someone who'd just decided to swing by, and hadn't commented on his earlier journal entry.
Instead, he just headed over to her with a smile, drink in hand.

"You're pretty skilled for someone so young."
Reply
"Thanks! I've been making them since I was about thirteen."
He'd gotten too used to people knowing what his abilities were to clarify that.
"Are you Veronica?"

Veronica smiled widely, reaching beneath the bar to grab some glasses, "That's me. You must be the birthday boy."

He grinned back and nodded. "Yup, that'd be me. Nice to meet you face to face."

She went right up to him and grinned.
"Nice statues, Bobby."

"Thanks. I can't do much by way of decoration, but at least I can try, right?"

"I don't know, I think they're pretty groovy."

"Yeah? Well, your opinion is the most important, so that's good enough for me." His tone was teasing, but there was some truth to that.

"Yeah, they're awesome! Did you make them with your ice powers?"
She wiggled her fingers in what she thought was an excellent demonstration.
"I'm Tahlia, by the way," she said when she realized Bobby had nothing to recognize her by.

He smiled when she introduced herself, because he'd been right about who she was. "Hi, Tahlia! Nice to meet you in person."
