i am dreading the day school starts. i honestly want to drop out of canyon and go to learning post. school isnt like last year and i hate it. no one wants to go to theatre, they just want to "get it over with" not that i blame them but yeah only a year and a half to go.

i see where mandy is coming from.

its pretty much something we all cant fix unless we as individuals help ourselves first.

I completely disagree. I think the fact that everyone thinks about themselves first is the reason we aren't a coheisve group. Or a reason.

honestly, we are worked way too thin. i love theatre don't get me wrong but it wears me out. yeah, we need practices but come on, we are only human. these 5 hour rehearsals after a 6 hour day at school is too much.
i totally understand we need to perfect a show but this is only high school theatre. some people forget that.
i respect the fact that you put on fundraisers its great, but everyone thinks it is too much. it wouldnt be if the other 95% of our life was surrounded by this.
i dont know how we all fell apart but as a group we arent as closely knit as we used to be.

its not so much the fundraisers. it was bennett and pilkey.

they ruined us.

Well, but Pilkey created the Thespian troupe in the first place. It all started with good ideas...but we've ended up some place else. I know that there's a lack of leadership on Pilkey's part. Bennett still tries to respect Pilkey's position of authority, but Pilkey doesn't actually take hold of that position. That leaves the whole Thespian Society itself to be way too student run, so Bennett has now stepped in, which is a step in the right direction. There's also too little separation between Thespian Society and theatre. I don't mean that it should be cliquey and separate, but there's nothing distinctive about being a Thespian. It's so easy tp become one...and once you are, how are you different than anyone else who does plays? It's like we have no purpose. Because we have no leader giving us a purpose...that leader was Pilkey, when she created it but...now? It's sad.

yah, i know pilkey has definitly gone on another random tangent. who knows when shell be back. the thing with bennett is that she doesn't consider herself a teacher, but almost like a real director. and that is understandable to a point, but if you were to drop any other class, the teacher wouldnt be the way she is. i agree w/ the 2 play a semester. in my opinon childrens seems to be a place to put the ppl who didnt make it into a main show or to put froshman/beginners. their is no structure and i hate it.
i agree, what does it mean to be a thespian? it seems to me everyone who is a junior/senior is a thespian. is that all? i mean this is an honor society, not a club you get mothing out of.
there is still a semester left of this year we can make it work.

I agree that most people in the theatre think of themselves first and that so many have forgotten why they joined the thespian society in the first place- because they love theatre.

Or maybve they never loved the theatre in the first place, maybe they only wanted to look cool, and thats what I think the problem is, I think a lot of people joined the theatre because they saw a group of people having fun and doing something exciting, but when the work came, they complained and wussed out, and now they see theatre as a chore. they want all the fun of theatre with out any of the work.
