In regards to the recent LJ update and the changes across the site, there's been a lot of talk in the RP community about shifting games and personal accounts over to Dreamwidth. The modteam have been in discussion since the update as to what our options are and how they might affect the game, but before any decisions are made, we'd like to hear ( Read more... )

If the game moves to DW and getting accounts ever become an issue, I've got bunches of invite codes on my current personal journal and on my old one.

I'm in the same position; if they're still valid. It got to the point where I deleted the new batches of invite codes.

Also, the invite code issues will likely be a temporary shortage, because once DW sends out its first invite code batch, any RPer will get a set for every journal, I believe.

I think I still have some too. Just need to find that email where I sent them to myself.

Also I believe game owners can contact DW and get invites for their games.

I'm obviously going to stay whether the game moves or not, but I'm going to vote for moving. :/

Those cons up there aren't the only ones for me personally; I hate the "expand" function, i think it's terrible and makes me loose wtf I'm reading, etc, and I don't really like the look of things now...

EDIT

I also don't like the look of the new default at all, all those gradients (I didn't realize that's what was terrible) and the work-around I've seen isn't all that awesome either... and I don't like having to mess with CSS.

And if I have to look at the default to comment all the time? :/ Yeah, I'm sure I'd stay no matter what happens, but...

I know my staying on with the game is a little ambigious right now so don't hate me here, but I've never really had a problem with livejournal so I vote to stay. All my stuff's already here and it's esay to create new jounrals.

Also because of my computer issues I also won't be around for the chance to convert my journals to dreamwith. I don't want to lose them.

I really like this game. However, overall I gotta say do whatever you think is best. I'm good with whatever the mods decide.

I checked out the importing journal thing on dw, but I`m still confused. If we import a journal from livejoural than does that just take the content from the lj journal and put it in an already created dw account? Or does it re-create the lj journal, same name and all, on dw? Also after the import is done is the lj journal still on lj, content and all, or is it gone becasue of the import?

Your content will remain on LJ, but you have to make the journal on DW and import the content from LJ. It doesn't have to be the same name, just the account info is the important stuff.

So I get to keep all my lj accounts and basically create duplicate accounts of them on dw. Then I can copy content from the orginal lj journals to their similar dw counterparts. In short I can have both? Awesome.

Thank you for the info. :D

I voted to move because its much much easier to post there without having to implement work grounds just so that LJ functions decently on my smartphone. Since that's how I do the majority of my posting.

Also I like the features over there way way more.

I'll ultimately go with whatever the game decides to do though.

Out of curiosity - not having a phone that can tag, I haven't looked into this side of it much - do custom comment pages work from phones? Or does ljmobile use the new system by default?

It does. Like I'm using my phone right now. Its just sluggish most of the time.

And depending on the phone browser i've found that the comment box will give me issues when trying to scroll through text that i've already typed there. But I've always had to fight with LJs comment boxes. It's just much more inconvenient now.

aside from inability to hover over anything and ocasionaly my fingers get away from me, i've had no trouble posting from my phone. (well, aside from the slow i get on the compy too).
that's using the main site and not ljmobile, i haven't been to that in ages.
