My dad always tells my family that if we're given a good voice, we should praise him with our song, and if not, we should make Him sorry that He didn't. At least that's what he says when people in church stare at him for being ridiculously loud (and off-pitch).
That's what this post made me think about.
As an intense lover of music myself, this really struck a chord. Thanks.
Psalm 98:4 - Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth; make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
Even when I was little and snotty (snottier) about singing in church (read: I didn't appreciate off-pitch people drowning out the good ones, like my mom), I liked this verse. God doesn't want us to make a beautiful noise, or a perfect noise, or a melodious noise: he wants us to make a joyful noise. A LOUD noise! Your story is the most beautiful case-in-point. :) Thanks for sharing that, Carlton.
