Smaller than what they were sometime ago. Quieter now. ...Probably better that way.

I know it's seen better days, even compared to the rest of the city. But do you think there would be room for two more?

I would completely understand if you said no.

...You and River?

You sure you want to come over this way?

I can'tdon't want to stay at Horton anymore.

Latimir is too far from the clinic, and I'd like to stay in an actual apartment so that rules out the high school itself.

Explain to me these 'chips', Simon.

Ah, well the scientists put a microchip into every person they bring here. Their main function is to suppress any supernatural abilities a person might have. They probably serve other functions, but it's hard to say exactly what those are.

It's possible to remove them with surgery, if one knows where in the body they've been implanted.

And you remove them?

I can. I'm one of the few surgeons here.

So you quit the chip-taking business.

Why? Too risky? What about the rest of us?

I have my own reasons. And as I said, there are other doctors here besides me.

But you've got the most experience with it. You found them.

That would mean a lot more if I could actually remember it.

I've heard what you have to say, so I'll thank you to keep it to yourself this time.

It's rather unbelievable how unwilling someone who's taken up a profession in helping others can be.

Don't start. Find me someone who is dying directly because of their chip and you might have a decent argument.
