I turn away from the communicators for a week or so, just to clear my head...and what do I find when I pick it back up? More--

[There's the electric snap of the communicator followed by a hiss of pain...Simon takes a moment and proceeds to ignore the scientist's 'friendly reminder'.]More death. What a surprise ( Read more... )

It has diverted much-needed attention from the barn and stables construction, certes.

But it is unfortunate that little can be done against the murderous contingent in our midst, save protecting ourselves and not losing our collective heads over things, no matter how grievous they may seem.

But there's nothing wrong with letting off a little steam, is there?

No, there is not. What simply has me concerned is rash actions rather than strong speech.

Action has it's place...talking will only go so far to solve our problems. Especially the more violent ones.

You're useful.

You could remove their limbs. Or their tongues. Maybe eyes.

And then be counted among them? No thank you.

Yan wu.

It's not the same if they did it first.

Maybe they're bored.

Was that an insult?

It's exactly the same. It just dissolves into repetitive violence and nothing of value is ever accomplished...

No. Not against you.

I wondered why people killed here. Apparently there are enough people here that consider it traumatic enough for it not to be a waste.

Their grief doesn't matter enough to make it stop, it never has. If it made a difference then perhaps you'd be right. But as it is, those who murder certainly don't care who they hurt and the scientists do not care enough or they would make a move to stop it.

I think we may have misunderstood one another. I think you said that people should stop killing because it's a waste, at least? From the answers to my question, the concept of death and the effect it has on others probably ensures to those that kill, amongst other reasons, that it is not a waste to do so.

But I agree, it doesn't seem likely to stop in the near future. If ever.

I see...that's even more disheartening than my original point.

By now, I'm all but convinced that the day it stops is the day the scientists send us all home.

...I share your sentiments, sir. Aye, I do but it would do you well not to focus upon such truths now.

Do not allow your rage to consume you.

[Simon no longer sounds angry...only tired.]

Sorry, but turning a blind eye to uncomfortable truths has never been a hobby of mine.

I wasn't planning on allowing it to anyway.
