After becoming the last person in North America to hear about the now-passe' Susan Boyle phenomenon, I spent some time thinking about spinsters. Specifically, me. Marissa and I know a Dave Taylor who is nothing like the (heterosexual) person you mentioned here. He looks fabulous in drag!

My favorite comment of this semester (from a student) is "Khakis." Because that's pretty much all I wear, one student has taken to writing that single word on every evaluation (3 so far this semester).

Of course, I also got:
"Evan is phenomenal."
"you guys rock for real."
"Evan was very pleasant and helpful"
"Evan, you're awesome!!"

Paying my kids for good evaluations: A+++

One of my students wrote in the evaluations that he didn't respect me as a person.

But yeah. You don't *really* want to teach these kids do you? When asked "what was the least favorite part of your class," I got answers such as "critical thinking." Huzzah for America's future.
