Ah yes, the problems with asexuality being aknowledged. I guess I can understand why some people have problems with it, because it's so much quieter and less likely to get you beaten up than other sexualities, but it's still annoying to tell someone you're asexual and even when they aren't implying that you're broken or doing it for religious reasons, you can actually see them privately thinking the whole "well, she hasn't found the right one yet..." stuff. v-v"

And I get that it's hard to show people being in love and not having sex with each other, because in most cases you either have to make a big deal out of it ("oh noes, he doesn't want to have sex, even though he loves the other person!"), or they're romantically linked and the sex isn't written, in which case most people assume the sex is happening behind the scenes, and the whole asexuality thing gets invisible again. But there are some ways that people can get close that can be non-sexual! Soulbonding fics, or sentinel-AUs, for example, in which there's a lot of "you're the ( ... )

Oh, and another thing concerning asexual relationships not being written: here's a really good post by an asexual writer about asexual relationships not being written, which pretty much sums up all of my feelings. (...I actually ended up kind of rambling at that person in the comments... for the length of three comments. ^^") An excerpt:

There are other bonds that are viewed as equally strong. The bonds of family, in particular, and the bonds of teammates/brothers-in-arms, where the depth of caring is expressed in the sheer level of effort expended to keep the other people in that bond safe, in one piece, and even happy. I tend to write a lot about the development of bonds like this, too, perhaps instead of the traditional shipping/romance type fics in some ways. It's an intense emotional bond that's acceptable to show as being without sex, so I like it ( ... )
