Title: Umbrella and Walls
Pairing: Baekhyun/Chanyeol
Length: drabble, 710wc

Because Baekhyun and Chanyeol.. Plus the rain is the perfect setting for love...

"Can we stay like this for a little longer?" Chanyeol whispered against Baekhyun's hair.

They were waiting for the company van to pull up so they could go to their next activity. It was raining and the other members were still inside the building, unwilling to stay in the cold weather.

They were sharing a big enough umbrella, and there was room to move, but somehow Baekhyun still ended up with his back pressed against his chest, both of Chanyeol's arms bent protectively on either side of his small body.

"What did you say?" he heard his best friend answer, barely audible against the sound of the rain.

"Nothing," Chanyeol replied.

He closed his eyes for a moment glad that Baekhyun couldn't see him.

Because he'd probably notice the longing in Chanyeol's eyes when the shorter boy leaned against him. Chanyeol had been in love with his friend for so long now. Ever since he walked into the training room, introduced himself as Byun Baekhyun and stole his heart with a song.

But Baekhyun was his best friend and best friends weren't supposed to feel this way. So Chanyeol kept his mouth shut and contented himself with the thought that he was still somehow special in Baekhyun's eyes and that would have to be enough.

His friend didn't know how hard it was to hold back--to care for him as much as he did but put limits so he wouldn't give himself away. So Baekhyun wouldn't know that his every smile and laugh goes straight to Chanyeol's heart making him fall more helplessly in love.

He savored moments just like today, when they were alone and it seemed that the heavens felt sorry for Chanyeol once in a while, giving him a few seconds to hold Baekhyun in his arms.

He knew he couldn't ask for more but God knew he wanted to.

Just then he heard the sound of an approaching vehicle and saw the van coming closer. He realized the moment will end soon so he whispered one last time. "I love you."

Baekhyun felt more than heard Chanyeol murmur against his hair and it was more than he could do to stop himself from leaning back closer to his chest.

Baekhyun wanted to turn around and wrap his arms around Chanyeol but that was impossible."What did you say?" he asked instead because it felt important.

"Nothing," Chanyeol said softly with his deep voice, sending slivers of warmth shooting through Baekhyun's heart.

Baekhyun closed his eyes for a moment, glad that Chanyeol couldn't see him.

Because one look and his best friend would know how much he longed for him. He had been in love with him for so long now, ever since the taller boy welcomed him into the training room, introduced himself as Park Chanyeol and stole his heart with his smile.

But Chanyeol was his best friend and best friends weren't supposed to feel this way. So Baekhyun didn't say a thing about his feelings. Telling himself that it was enough that Chanyeol said he was more special to him than most, and it would have to suffice.

His friend didn't know how hard it was to stop himself from clinging on to him--how difficult it is to hold himself back when all he wanted was to pull Chanyeol into his embrace. He couldn't let him know that his concern, his small touches and his every Baekhyun-ah made him fall more hopelessly in love.

He treasured rare times like this, when there was no one around and he thanks fate and luck that gave him these few precious seconds when he could pretend for a while that Chanyeol loved him back.

He wanted more, God knew he did.

A moment later he saw the black company van getting closer and Baekhyun realized that this borrowed slice of time was coming to an end. He leaned back a little more and let the sound of the falling rain drown his, "I love you."

The two friends walked towards the door of the vehicle, huddled close under the umbrella. The fragile walls were up again, both changed and unchanged.
