I think I'm on my way

For the past, oh, several years, I've had some energy issues, which were complicated and aggravated by various ongoing medical crises in and around me. The fatigue got pretty bad recently, so I made some specific changes, based on some incremental past successes, including ( Read more... )

Wow. How interesting. I recently figured out that I was incredibly sensitive to dairy, and a lot of the misery I've been feeling can be traced to it. Food sensitivities do matter.

It's amazing, isn't it? And it can suck not being able to eat certain foods, but I see it as incredibly liberating to have the knowledge that lets me make informed decisions about what foods may affect me adversely, especially when avoiding them has such a marked beneficial effect in an area in which I'd been really suffering.

Sorry to hear about your dairy sensitivity, but I'm glad you've identified it.

Funny that you should mention the chocolate. I've noticed lately that I have become sensitive to it too. I crave it, but it depresses my mood, especially if I eat it later in the evening. (Just the other day we had some, and then I felt crappy as I got ready for bed. and I said to Mirth, "I feel like a huge failure, for no reason in particular. I think it's the chocolate.")

It is hard to leave off eating it, though. Powerful stuff.

It is hard to stop -- but I'm pretty motivated. The fatigue was getting really bad, and its alleviation was a pretty powerful experience. Let's hope I can hold that in mind and resist temptation until I've got it out of my system.

The next step will likely be to figure out if it's just chocolate and caffeine, or if I have issues with amines. At least I have a direction to pursue now.

Good luck with your sensitivity, however you choose to handle it.

Yay you! Wishing you much energy and vigorous vim!

I'm also reducing chocolate for similar reasons. Not doing away with it altogether, but being more measured and thoughtful in my intake. Fortunately my craving for it seems to be reducing along with that, and so the occasional indulgence is all the sweeter.

For me, cold turkey is the way to go with chocolate. (Not my first time wrestling with this monkey on my back.) If I have some now and then, I crave it all the time. If I stop eating it for, say, a month, I wonder why I ever wanted it. Odd.

Here's hoping you achieve the results you want too. :)
