the countdown continues

We only go on lockdown from Friday -- I couldn't work out why they were giving us so much warning but hearing everything they're having to put in place with very little money/infrastructure explains a few things. The build up is interesting though. For example ( Read more... )

Sorry about the alcohol! It has been helpful. We have not really overused it, but what we have imbibed really did help a lot! New York says liquor stores are 'essential' and can stay open. We have ordered delivery--wine and Tequila! Trying to make the Tequila last a long time!

Dogs have to go out unless one can teach them to use an inside toilet and they would still need to walk a little.

No one thought they would try the alcohol thing. We all assumed at least we could get beer and wine at the supermarkets, but no. Ray is in denial!

Apartment blocks tend to not be dog friendly, so they're basing this on the idea that most dog owners have a yard, even if it's tiny, and that's where the dog must go. Very unhappy people who were going to use it as an excuse to go for a walk (and possibly hire out Dog to the neighbourhood).

We also go on lockdown Friday (at midnight). Alcohol sales are still allowed, however, so that's rather lucky (my pantry is well stocked none-the-less). People here are allowed out of the house individually for exercise which would include walking the dogs. Other errands are minimal - groceries and gasoline.

We can do groceries, medical, gas (not sure where we would be driving to though) and essential services still go to work. Today they have had to tell off people for believing they could go out for a jog and arrested a cyclist (I suspect he got mouthy with law enforcement, which is never smart). I suspect there is enough alcohol to go round at this point, they stocked up like crazy people yesterday!

Wow - no dog walking - that seems harsh. I guess they are serious about keeping people in their homes. We are allowed to go out for walks here but only if you keep a safe distance from other people. And no beer. Ugh. I don't drink so that would not bother me. Hope you are doing ok there. <3

We were originally allowed to go for walks, jog, take the dog out, but then the Minister of Police decided it was less complicated to just ban everything except grocery and medical-related outings. (to be fair, he knows his people are good at taking whatever gap presents itself).

I'm fine, Husband will run out of projects in about a week and then this will become hell 😁. You take care!

It’s kind of odd about the dig walking. Looks like social distancing would be enough for that.

The lack of alcohol wouldn’t bother me, but I would like to have toilet paper again someday soon. lol

Glad to hear you’re well.

Minister of Police knows his people, I guess. There would have been dog-walking groups, keeping (barely) a social distance, there would have been dogs hired out for walking... we don't do restrictions well.

We have plenty toilet paper. I think it's meant to be a sign to us that all is well. There is currently, however, a lack of vegetables as the last minute panic shopping cleared everything out.

Take care!

Outside the front door, somewhere in their yard... very few apartments allow dogs so there's usually a small patch of lawn or gravel or something available. I think it was assumed people would take horrible advantage of the dog walking and go out twenty times a day (or something). Pretty sure they were right there - this morning they had to arrest a cyclist and loudly lecture joggers. We don't take instruction well.
