moving on

The candles were our President's suggestion in place of fireworks seeing as we're locked down without even family visits allowed (watch people do their own thing, as ever). I lit one for the health care workers and one for all those we've lost. Please may this ghastly year be well and truly gone now ( Read more... )

Candles are such a nice idea. I really love that. I hope we don't have people setting off fireworks here. Really don't need that this year.

I am very glad to put this year to bed and start a new year. Happy New Year to you!

2020 lasted about ten times longer than it had any right to. Good riddance and all that.

We had about five minutes of fireworks but people aren't meant to gather or party or anything under level 3 lockdown so they packed it up fast before the police decided to investigate. Such a relief. I am very over all those loud bangs. Must be getting old.

I definitely hate the fireworks and my cats don't like them either. Distressing for the animals. Glad they did not last long for you. Early on in the pandemic people were doing fireworks every night here and I live near a fire zone - totally not safe for that.

2020 - the year that would not end. Seems apt. I am feeling better in the new year. Hope this feeling lasts.

Hi Kei. I like the idea of lighting the candles. Yes indeed, may 2021 be a vast improvement. When are you folks able to get a vaccine? (Thanks also for your lovely reply to my xmas card.)

I felt so bad for not sending e-cards this year, but the exchange rate made Jacquie Lawson hard to justify and the free stuff just isn't the same (spoilt, yes).'

We have no idea when we'll get a vaccine at this point (I did a small rant post about it recently). Our president muttered something about 10% by the middle of the year.... they do have logistical issues to consider and a single dose would be optimum, but there are also availability issues. Currently we're in Plan B - back in lockdown - but they can't keep this going for long. I really hope your turn comes around soon. I don't know about you, but I've had enough.

Stay safe!
