Kei Moriyasu

Kei Moriyasu is my uncle, my Mom's older brother. He died when I was in junior high school of cancer. (I need to do some research to find out more about that. Specific date, what kind of cancer, etc.). When he came to live with us in Eastern Oregon, he was there to die and I was too young to get to know him. I only vaguely remember meeting him once before when I was younger and our family was in California to go to Disneyland. Kei was living in California then (not sure what he was doing there, but I think some of the last journals I have will shed light on that subject).

I regret not ever getting to know my uncle, but recognize that I just wasn't mature enough at the time to be able to do that. It is what it is. Now I find that I have this sort of weird chance to get to know him by reading his journals and asking others about him. I intend to document what I find in these entries.

I have somehow managed to inherit some of his old journals. They are hand-written spiral-bound notebooks. The majority of the ones I've got have "University of Washington" printed on them. Along with "University Bookstore". The price on them is 35 cents.

Kei was a physicist; bachelor's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), not sure where (if?) he got his doctorate. I think he did, but I will have to check on that.

The earliest journal I have found has "1974 London Journal" written on the front. I have read through about seven of these books and have learned some things about his life and experiences. You can too, if you have an interest and as I get them transcribed.

So, my plan is to type these journals in here. A few reasons:
I just find these interesting and want to bring the text into another format.
I think that if he were alive now he would do this himself. Just based off the fact that he had these written journals.
I can use these entries with comments to document any additional research I do to learn more about him.
I want to use this to help me get into the habit of writing consistently.
