In celebration of the unique talent that you have displayed, we also wish to publish your poem on its own page in what promises to be one of the most highly regarded collections of poetry we have ever published...

Eternal Portraits

...That was unexpected.
Yeah, I submitted a poem to Poetry.com on a whim not long ago... I figured it was worth a shot.
And... today I receive this letter saying that I'm certified as a semi-finalist in Poetry.com's International Open Poetry Contest, and that my poem will be published.
(The letter doesn't say anything about royalties, since the book is a compilation, but it's going to be copyrighted under my own name, and I'll take what I can get, okay?)

So, like, this moment is kinda marred by the fact that mom refuses to purchase a copy of the book in which I will be published. Thanks, mum! Love you to!
...Granted, it's an expensive book. $50, plus $25 if I want a 100-word biographical tidbit on the page opposite my poem.
But but I waaant it.

(PS. Hi, I have not used LJ in a million-bajillion years.)
