Belated congrats from me. ^_^ My brother did that, too... they do try to scam you into buying all this stuff, but as long as you don't, it's a great thing to do.

(As for the last question--magazines! Especially children's ones, right?)

Children's magazines are good for certain kinds of poetry, if you do them! I looked into it at one point, and most don't require lit agents (like cricket mag, etc.) If you don't do cute rhyming narrative poetry though, you're outta luck.

I will deff be keeping my eyes open for smaller publications. I have a friend who runs a 'zine on gender issues I'd be happy to introduce you to, but that publication is on temp hiatus.

It's too bad I'm not in school yet, or I'd be able to find more! There's still black bears, though, and I'll drop an email to some of my old CW friends and see whta they may know.

This sounds familiar. There's a contest that I entered when I was in the 8th grade. I sent in one of my poems, and it was chosen to be published. They offered some sort of book fee and wanted my mom to make sure it was ok for them to publish it. Is this the same thing, or have I just missed the whole of it?

Indeed! Congradulations. Though, yes, good old vanity publishers. Of course, I think they're pretty cunning if they don't pay people for printing their poems, as essentially they get product for nothing. Ah, the evils of industry.

Also, sorry I haven't been online this weekend. Its good to see you remembered your LJ though, I was starting to wonder if you'd just decided to quit updating it. Then again, then I get to hear everything from you via IM >>
