Well, been having some delightful fun with our letting agency.
We had our regular six month house inspection last week, so we did the usual general house clean that has seen us sail through previous inspections with no problems. However this time we left the god awful build up of mildew on our bedrooms window wall to try and show the extent of the problem to the visiting inspector.
I won't go into the full details but the inspector was unmoved by our mildew issues and put it down to us hanging our washing out to dry inside the house. Now I've had to hang washing out indoors at nearly every flat I've lived in for the last ten years and have never had the mildew problems that this place does.
This was one of many points Claire raised with the delightful gentleman who had made the inspection but her queries fell on deaf ears. The advice offered to my wife in the most condescending manner possible consisted of the following:
-We should keep the windows open to ensure airflow through the property
-Always dry our clothes outside, if it's raining go to a laundrette.
-Buy a tumble drier.
The trouble with this advice is
-It's winter and therefore fucking freezing
-As above, plus the costs for drying our constant throughput of washing at a laundrette would streatch our available money very severly.
-Can't afford a tumble drier and there is no where in the house to put one.
Awesome stuff, so we chalked this up to the usual agency not giving a toss shenanigans and got on with our lives. But then we received our post inspection follow up letter, this induced a not inconsiderable amount of rage. This was due to three main points raised in the letter which can be seen below:
1st paragraph
Now our flat has always had a lot of stuff in it, this has not really changed in the last couple of years and each prior inspection does not seem to have had a problem. But this is a fairly minor issue as it's the second and third paragraphs that have really pissed us off.
2nd paragraph
Yep we are indeed keeping rats in the property and this would be against the terms of our tenancy were it not for the fact our contract has a clause written into it allowing us to keep pet rats. So full marks for not bothering to check our paperwork before deciding to be a cock
3rd paragraph
There is nothing in our tenancy agreement saying we're not allowed to dry washing in the property.
I don't like being lied to, especially by a bunch of shit spewing cock sleeves who have been glad to take over £30,000 of our money in the last four years but can't be arsed to check our paperwork before sending us a snotty letter.
