Been having a lot of fun at Intervention, a con about internet living. Although it seems a bit more like a largely internet oriented version of SPX (Small Press eXpo).

I managed to compile and print out a stretchy bracelet today Thingiverse thing: 13505 This means I've achieved a certain level of control of the output of my slicing software, and of the printing quality of my machine. Someday RSN I need to work on actually producing 3D models (,stl) rather than just printing them out.
Spent over two hours, so far, loading Slic3r and the files it depends on to my razzpi (slic3r converts CAD files to files a 3d printer can read). One of the math package files it depends on is called Devel::GlobalDestruction. It makes me kinda afraid to open slic3r when it gets done. I think I'll do lunch now.
I've spent since thursday night cobbling together a 3d printer kit that I got called a Printrbot Simple. It was mostly straightforward but a few snags have caused it not to be ready to test until a couple hours ago. The next hurdle is getting software that will run on a Raspberry Pi to drive the printer. Found a suite of python scripts that
