I Am Leg-End

Do not go and see this movie in the hope of cheering yourself up! It is very gloomy and downbeat. It is also a lot more scary than I thought, do not see it if you have an irrational fear of being torn to pieces by rampaging infected killer zombies. I have that. Now.

Maybe wifey needs to re-think her desire to see this movie. She's already petrified of zombies...

I can't recommend it in that case. It is extremely well made and consequently shit-your-pants frightening, even for tough nuts like me.

Why not see that movie where Jerry Seinfeld is a friendly animated bee, instead?

It seemed so derivative of "28 days later" that I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. I want to see the earlier versions of the movie now, to see how they compare.

"28 days later" is a movie from 2002, I Am Legend is a novel copyright 1995. There was a ripoff all right, but not movie-to-movie.

I believe you meant 1954 for the novel. But yes, I was aware of that, hence my desire to see the other movies adapted from the novel - and possibly read the novel eventually too.

Oh, you're right; the book I have, whose title is I Am Legend, actually includes the novel and some other stories. The copyright for the book is 1995, but now I see the 1954 hiding on another page. Sigh.

I'll let you do the analysis; I'm sure I wouldn't make it through either movie. :) It's a good read though, and a short one at only ~157 pages.

Thanks for the warning. Another on my not to see list.

It was very effective, but I just found it a bit too dark for my liking! Admittedly a movie where virtually the whole human race gets killed is never going to be much of a rom-com.

Beware though it is quite horrid in places.
