I can completely relate to your attatchment with FF characters! It happens to me every single time. I've gotten teary eyed at the end of FFX and FFX-2. I did cry at the end of FFIX though, I couldn't fight back the tears. And don't even mention Kingdom Hearts, because I bawled at the end of that one and felt ridiculous about it. XD

Yeah! *sniffles* The end of FFIX was soooo sad...well, I mean, it was happy and sad, but for some reason the sadness was more striking to me than the happiness.
