Is there really any need to bother Madame Pomfrey with the trivial task of writing a note? You could just take my word for it.

But the nice markers at the Ministry who will be in charge of marking your OWLs will only believe something that is written down. If you need to use your mock as an appeal then they shall need a note showing that you truly were ill.

We need to test your abilites to see how on track you are for the end of year exams. If something goes wrong in your final exam, then these marks will count towards your grade for the year.
