So, I just read this fic describing the effects of ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) and was like, "THAT SOUNDS AWESOME. I NEED THAT

The first time I ever read an article describing ASMR I nearly wept because I finally had a word for what I've been feeling my whole life. (I still remember the first time I realized that I was feeling something odd, from sixth grade. Hell, I've discussed it with people and colloquially refer to it as "listening to people read.")
Anyway, yeah. Just letting you know that it's not a myth or anything, but not everyone feels it.
Weird. I always thought it was more common but just too hard to describe to people. Huh.
While it feels good and calming, I have never fallen asleep from it and the calming feeling doesn't last any longer than any other calming habit. And barring these youtube videos (which I have never heard of before and am now planning to check out) it's weirdly hard to trigger.
Oh, man, there are apparently entire YT CHANNELS dedicated to this. I thought I might be feeling something in the glass-tapping video, but it was too inconsistent that it started bugging me.
Oh yeah, I find that stuff irritating too, fingernails-on-a-blackboard amounts of irritating. Like the sound of whispering: UGHGHGHG get it away stop! It's like if you have the response, it relaxes you, and if you don't, it REALLY DOESN'T.
The closest I got to relaxing was with the glass-tapping one, but it was too inconsistent.
Like, I find the sound of rain soothing, and obviously getting a scalp massage is awesome, but I have ALWAYS been sound-sensitive. Little things like that just irritate me. I need white noise to fall asleep usually.

But, man, I'm jealous of the tingles.
