Pour myself a cup of ambition...

softeranswer and I went to see 9 to 5 last night. It just started previews on September 10th, which was a few days later than originally planned because of "technical difficulties" (which we got to see some of last night, more on that later ( Read more... )

I'm glad you got to see the show. I enjoyed reading your review of it. Sounds like a lot of fun! I'd like to hear Dolly's score...

I didn't even know that she was going to be in this, but it cracks me up just thinking about it. I love the movie, and if she was going to be playing any of them, I think the Lily Tomlin role is definitely the most fitting, and I wish I could see this.

This is me: jealous.

Oo. AJ is ... awesome for trying? At least people won't physically cringe like when watching Pierce in "Mamma Mia"? Hopefully.

Her acting really sells the part. But like I said, it's rough being stuck between an Elphaba and a Galinda.

I only actually "cringed" once at the end of "Let Love Grow" (The duet.)

From what I read, it's supposed to open in NYC in March (or possible April.) I think they may be moving to San Fran when they're done here for more tweaking, but don't quote me on that.

Ooooh! This is sooo awesome. As jealous as I am that you got to go see it, I'm also so happy that you did and that you were sweet enough to give us this fantastic review.

It sounds like besides the few technical difficulties and kinks that need working it is going to be a great show. I cannot wait until it comes to NYC.

Glad to know Allison does well with the role, if not necessarily all the singing. But as everyone has said... it can't be worse than Pierce, and I still love him, so I have no qualms about Teh Janney at all. ♥

HAI THIS POST MADE ME FLAIL RATHER A LOT.

I love reading stories of people who've seen the production, because right now my fangirling is down only to bootlegs and photos and what videos I've been able to find.

Allison > interesting that you say she goes out of tune. I was actually very impressed with her ability to hold her notes in all her songs. (and yes, it's hysterically ironic that she gets more songs than either of her ex-Wicked co-stars!) I've loved her from way back though - WW and CJ did me in - so she's one of the main reasons I was so excited about 9 to 5, and one of the things I love BEST about it.

And ohmigod. Also SJB. I'm so impressed with her Judy it's insane. I got the chance to watch her last Wicked on Broadway in June and didn't connect with her Elphaba. But I'm LOVING her as Judy.

Errr. When you said you needed someone to fangirl 9 to 5 with... I guess you found the right person? XD

She sounds better on the boot that I have and she sounded GREAT last night. She totally blew the doors off the place during "One of the Boys."

I hope someone will make newer recordings as the show changes, not that I have ANYTHING to trade, but I am not above begging.

I'm friending you, btw.

Haha, it's a good thing you're friending me then, as I expect to be getting audios soon enough of the show as it progresses. I'll definitely have one from the Sunday night (Sep 21) performance.

I guess the singing is more hit-and-miss for Allison. But I'd still KILL to see her live and singing. KILL.

Did you stagedoor after the show?

AWSE.

I drove by the stage door as I was leaving and it was like a friggin' zoo. I'm going two more times in October, so maybe I'll try then. I haven't stagedoored anything in YEARS (not since I left NYC and moved here.)
