I've been blown away by what my son's elementary school has been doing to prepare for a weeklong visit by children's author Robert San Souci, starting tomorrow. I can brag because I've had absolutely nothing to do with it. (For some reason, the link isn't working. Here's San Souci's website:

He's one of our neighbors so he shops in my sisters store a lot and she does quite a few events with him.
My sister is ten years older than me, so when she was 20, she worked in the bookstore that she now owns. At the time, I was 10 and my library had a bunch of books by him. So I thought he must be, like, the most famous person ever. So when I went to the store and saw a bunch of books on hold for "Robert San Souci", I couldn't quite wrap my mind around the fact that he - the real, live, ultra-famous author - lived in a regular neighborhood and shopped in a regular store. Wha? Shouldn't he be, like, in his castle on Skull Island or something??

And I was already very excited for RSS to come, and now I'm even more so! He visited our school 10 years ago and was a huge hit. (But none of the kids there now, of course, would have met him.)
