Thank you! Heh. Took me awhile to type out that alone: kitten kept insisting on typing "3" first. And now she's trying to eat my hair.

Now. Back to "business," as it were. I had to restart the fic about five times or so before that initial tone finally came to me, and then it just flowed wonderfully... up until the time Riku was supposed to have his epiphany, and then I had to mentally smack him with a baseball bat just to get him to stand up and get himself hit in the story. "Sora's shorts are mine!" sort of hit me much like the baseball bat, out of the blue, and it just fit. Tidus and Selphie's comments are essentially just the sorts of things I yell at random, so that was easy enough to pull off. lol

It just seemed fitting to me, having Sora approach Selphie and Kairi "behind-the-scenes," ask them for help because he's been dropping hints, reading some return chemistry from Riku, but they're not getting anywhere and he wants to be sure about things first. Selphie and Kairi would only be too glad to help, and Tidus basically helps ( ... )

Ah, this brings me back to when my brother wasn't glued to the Xbox and I was still considered cool by him. Baseball in the cul-de-sac with a bunch of kids I didn't like and a couple that I did, with a softball that once gave my brother a black eye and a giant yellow bat 'cause we were playing with little kids. We used sidewalk chalk to make the bases and knocked out the light of the church at the end of the cul-de-sac once.

Made me giggle desperately, especially "Sora's shorts are mine!" and "Milkshakes" because I immediately thought, "Sora's milkshakes bring Riku to the yard."

I also really liked Sora's comments about the Curaga and being turned into a duck and a lion, because sometimes after-the-game fics always seem to kind of... forget the game ever existed. At least the ones I've read. But I haven't been in the fandom in awhile, so maybe I just haven't read that many.

And blue Gatorade was always the best kind.

Ha! We played baseball in my backyard and used various landmarks as bases, even if they made the "diamond" a tad lopsided. The inspiration for Riku's bout with the baseball bat came from me playing as catcher and my neighbor throwing the bat back to sprint for first and accidentally walloping me right in the gut. This story called for head trauma, so... ah, memories. My poor sister, when she was younger and couldn't play quite as rough as us, used to sit on the sidelines as an "extra outfielder" and fetch balls whenever we'd knock them over the fence. Eventually she grew up enough to play.

Ha! Nothing like a little Kelis to bring two people together. I'm sure those relationships last. Initially it was very difficult for me to write the whole impact scene, but then I just sort of pulled an automatic writing trick that almost always works when I'm in Riku/Sora mode and voila, shorts and milkshakes are belong to Riku.

No, there aren't many, which is why most of my stories (with the exceptions of Freaks and Fools and Commentary, for ( ... )
