Heh. I figure that if you can't get the reader feeling like s/he's there within the first paragraph or so, it's probably not worth writing that story. In that particular light, that is. I had to restart this one a couple of times before it started to feel right, and then the rhythm set in and it was fantastic to write because I just sort of put myself in that room. Which is what I usually do when I'm writing anyway, so... bitchin'.

I know, right? It's one of those bets where it doesn't matter who "loses". Riku and Sora strike me as the type of people who make that sort of bet a lot. Heh. I think it was more of a draw though, although I'm pretty sure Sora didn't last the five minutes; Riku sort of forgot to keep track of the time too. And I think it's only fair to rekindle that friendship they have, the one that they have to fight for in the games--it's often forgotten because of the whole dark powers thing, but ultimately they were best friends first. It only seems sensible that I try to bring that element into fic. That and I think

Thank you; I remember waking up about a week ago and just kind of lazing there for a few minutes and looking up at where the sun was lighting up the sky. Of course, I only stayed in bed for another five minutes or so because I can't stand not being up. Then it just kind of popped into my head that Riku seems like the type of person to tease Sora about it, and then my friend requested some D/s RiSo, and while that ended up being much lighter than I anticipated, the overall feel of this story seems all right to me (took me one or two tries to get started; originally the beginning was much different from what you see now).

Well, you can't have Riku and Sora without having some sort of competition, otherwise they're just not happy. Now I just have to do it all over again for the fic I'm trying to write now. *grumbles*

Okay seriously. I love the atmosphere here. Lazy and comfortable and loving. The mood is just perfect. And yes, there's a bit of kink, a bit of naughtiness, but it sort of... it just part of that comfort they have with each other.

Bits I loved in particular: lasagna, starfish!Sora, tasting ocean on Sora's skin, the whole "he's not moving because I told him not to paragraph" and the slow way Riku breaks away from Sora.

Seriously, you know I'm a fan :P

I started out with this very different feel to it, and then after about three restarts or so the opening you see finally happened and the rest of the story demanded to be written a certain way. I like to think that after this, more kinky things are gradually introduced. *sighs* Riku's just such a stubborn ass sometimes. But! I'm glad you liked in any event, as it was for you.

Hee! The lasagna part popped into my head and I was wondering if Riku would say it, and I eventually came to the conclusion that he would think it because he's a closet dork (he totally is, being best friends with Sora--he just lets his guard down when it's only the two of them). If it were early enough and he were still sleep-dazed he might say it too. Heh.

I spent this whole fic smelling a jar of coconut-lime body butter, so I will forever associate that smell with Riku now. Heh. Actually, I wrote that scent into Glasses, so...
