My mother's lymph node biopsy was negative, which is great news. But in a way we are now back to square one. She does have an appointment today for a second opinion so we'll see where that goes. The sticking point is why does she have lytic lesions which showed up as malignant (on one of the tests, I can't remember if it was the CAT scan, the PET ( Read more... )

What a relief. Even though it's still a mystery, it sounds like the big concern has been reduced. :-)

Odd, since I did wonder about blood cancers, even though I don't know much about any of this.

July 15 does seem a long way off. I'd be thinking, 'Is it OK to wait this long?'

Me, too. But I guess with the holiday and all.... She seems content with that date. She told my sister that she would refuse a bone marrow transplant when she had the bone marrow aspiration, if it came to that. So maybe she's resigned, maybe she realizes the 15th is reasonable (she's worked in a hospital for 20+ years as an ICU nurse), I don't know. I don't know. But someone just suggested maybe a 3rd opinion here in MA, so maybe I should broach that with her, too. I don't think it could be before the 15th, but who knows?

Thanks, Amanda. She has one more test coming up, which I hope will give concrete answers - or in a way I hope it doesn't b/c the answers likely won't be good ones.
