The State of Niko

Jan 05, 2011 16:54

The state of Niko is a pretty good one, lately. Except for sleep, really, which I am thinking of as a long term project.

I only have a few minutes, but wanted to jot a few developmental things down. )

The signing thing is so interesting to me. My sister taught both of her kids to sign a lot of things at a very young age and I was always very impressed by it :D

It's way easier to do than I thought it would be! I don't know why every generation for miles back wasn't doing it.

This is so fascinating. Definitely one of the coolest modern baby innovations.

that's great for a 7.5 month old to be signing so well! go niko! daniel still signs for milk. he knows the signs for water and more and uses those all the time too. i'm not sure what else to teach him and at 16 mos. it might be too late anyhow...

Yeah, I'm really surprised that he's taking to them so well! The potty cue is a sound and not a sign. I'm going to have to look up some more signs because all I know is milk and more! hah. It's a relief to have some direct communication with him.

my friend taught her daughter basic sign-language at a very young age using this dvd-book program. it was really cool. if i ever have kids, i wanna try it.

another friend has a near two year old baby who doesn't know many words, but if he sees something he wants, he points and make this clicking sound in his throat. really cute.

i'm amazed he's already going for it with the potty. that is a sharp lil' mister! good luck with the sleep he'll get there soon!

Oh my god!!! This is so amazing, Kellianne. When K was working Kasper on potty training, he was 3 and a half and I read the book because I wanted to make sure I did things right, too.

Imagine my surprise when this book showed that infants can be potty trained. I have said this to my friends who have kids and they look at me like I'm nuts. LOL I thought I imagined that chapter.

Don't be fooled into thinking that my baby is potty-trained IN ANY WAY! Rather, he understands cues and occasionally responds to them if I time them correctly, which is a start, I hope, because he's already so topsy turvy that I have trouble getting him into diapers.
