Maybe this embracing of innocence is something that will come more easily to me in my eventual wise woman years. But maybe I can learn, in the meantime, to be more patient with beautiful girls who sit around and talk about how ugly they are. Or exuberant girls who seem to need my validation only because I am chilly towards them.

This.

I guess we start practicing patience the moment we bring the issue into awareness, huh?

Definitely.

And I feel you on this one. Having been through all I've been through, I find that my patience for small talk is very thin. But as you aptly point out, sometimes listening and targeted compassion helps a lot.

My other solution is just to avoid parties. :)

I am so jealous of that kitchen. All that counter space!

I am pretty excited about it. I do see one area of contention where there is only enough space next to the sink to allow a dish rack. Nothing to allow for quick removal of things from the fridge, or space for vegetable washing.

Also- I realize that this is being REALLY nit-picky!!! That kitchen is by far the best I have ever had! And I thought I would never be able to find a better kitchen than the one in this apartment.

I went and looked at the other pictures of the kitchen, and that is definitely a weirdly placed sink. Maybe a narrow shelf somewhere or something. Are those cabinets next to the fridge?

It drives me nuts when someone tells me I'm just a baby or that I'm "still so young." I'm a grown ass woman with a sizable 401K. I'm 35 years old! That is not the age of a baby! And I'm not annoyed or ashamed of being 35 or of being a grown woman.

Yeah, youth obsessed culture is weird, my grown-ass-woman-friend!
