This is pretty much my most favorite topic! Obviously you know that fruits & veggies are important. If you are cooking for yourself, include lots of beans (from chickpeas to lentils)and a variety of whole grains (quinoa, millet, rice, etc ( ... )

this totally helped a lot, thanks!

also, do you have any shampoo recommendations? i'm looking for something that is as natural as possible with no sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate and no parabens. i'm currently using j/a/s/o/n which fits the bill, but it would be nice to have some other options. i was surprised that most of the shampoos i checked out at whole foods have one or the other or both of those ingredients.

also any kind of skin care products i could buy or make... i currently just use jojoba oil as a moisturizer, tea tree oil for blemishes and i make my own sea salt or brown sugar scrubs with extra virgin olive and castor oil.

I use this burt's bees brazil nut raspberry stuff that is alright. It has to SLS or parabens in it, it's pretty good. Burt's Bees is owned by Clorox now though, so a lot of people don't want to buy stuff from them anymore. I've had this bottle for a while now and it seems like it's going to last forever. You might consider looking into "no 'poo", which is a method of washing hair with baking soda and vinegar. A lot of people swear by it!

As for skin care, I use similar stuff. Jojoba oil as a moisturizer, then I use this zia brand 15 spf moisturizer (I will buy a different brand next time though, this still has a bit of sodium benzoate in it which I'd like to avoid). I also rub some coconut oil under my eyes at night.

I'm not sure if this works or not, but there's this EarthGrains 100% Natural (I remember reading the ingredient list and thinking wow, AWESOME everything is like... normal things) but it's been a while since I read it. The Wheat Berry w/ Honey - SO GOOD.

For snacks I often have nuts. Almonds are my favorite. I love Kashi, I think they avoid the things above... annnnndddddddd............ definitely amy's is a good thing, like the above was mentioning. Even SuperWalmart has a few of their items and I've tried this lasagna that was really good before.

I eat oatmeal all the time and it's pretty easy to find things that follow your list in that category........

Anyway. I don't avoid all of the things on your list, so I can't help TOO much, plus I'm a meat eater, but I read ingredients like it's nobody's business so yeah. HAHA.

two words: WholeFoods Market . Use honey instead of sugar on everything. And everytime you get hungry, drink a bottle of water before you eat.

While honey isn't refined like sugar, it is still sugar and they still have the same effect on your body. Some people say that eating local honey can help with allergies, but who knows. Also, it's good to drink a lot of water but drinking it right before you eat can make you feel really bloated. I always have to control myself when I am eating out because I drink too much water while waiting for my food.
