Every morning before I go to work I put out my bird feeder, scatter seed for the ground feeders, and fill up the bird bath if it needs it. It snowed yesterday, and was extremely cold last night, but the bird bath has a temperature-activated heater so it stays ice-free. So charming... :)
In my erea, Winter has suddenly decided to pay us a visit and temperatures have dropped by 20°C. Small birds(sparrows, chikadees, greenfinches,chaffinches)and even crows are gathering near the houses. You remind me that I'll have to put the feeder back into service very soon.
Your description is pure poetry, very delicate although very precise.
