I long ago came to the realization that I am not a "club girl" in any way, shape or form. Oh, hell, YES, I love to dance to live or dj-mixed music, but I can do without the rest of it: the expense, the rudeness, the alcohol (not much of a drinker) and the general great unwashed masses.

I'm putting you on my flist, so you better post more often. I'm going to nudge our mutual friend in North Carolina because I haven't heard a peep out of her in too long.

If these places didn't have a cover charge of at least this which covers room charge, insurance, bar, dj,staffing fees and the fact that it's a once a month maybe fortnight thing then they wouldn't be opened.I also think you miss the whole idea of having a space like this and it's to be able to go out have fun be yourself and feel comfortable and not get hassled by mainly homophobic rednecks. The comments you make are extremely negative,to me you sound like your embarrassed of who you are,you describe people as if they have some sort of illness if they don't look or act the way you would like them too!The comments about not being able to connect to those people is actually your own inner self lacking in human social skills, your constant need to feel above a person or situation is so blatant in the things you have written.Yes I have read some of the journal which is linked to lesbian communities. Not to be judgmental to you because I don't know you only what was written here but I think you need to look at life in a little different way ( ... )

Thanks for your insight...but I would argue that you too miss the point! How can you justify the cover charge when the same base costs are required to open all other venues (including the Wickham) it a blatant money grab. To the contrary I am quite comfortable with who and what I am and I thank you for your obvious acceptance of difference (that is my opinion and 'read'). My point is really that every person evolves over time and luckily I have the ability to recognise that in myself....you should try it some time.

Take care
