Looks like all but 1 of my fics is now off the Ebooks Tree site so that's positive. Not sure if it was the DMCA or the AO3 folks working their magic so might just lock the 1 affected fic to registered users until I can work out how to get that one removed too ( Read more... )

1 of mine is still up - so annoying! Why leave 1 on there - they were all on the same page! I might give it a few days, lock that story and then see if I need to make another request or contact AO3.

Rarr! Why do they still have *1* of my stories up. So annoying! I might give it a few days and then put in another request or check with the AO3 guys.

it's really weird that one of yours is still there. I hope they take it down soon.

It's possible it's actually the PDF rather than a link to AO3 which might be why it's still there - not sure and don't trust the site enough to click any of the links to check. I've filled out a DMCA so I'll give it a chance before seeing if I need to do anything further.

I've always felt safe and isolated in fandom but that's slowly being chipped away as more stuff like this happens.

Ugh, yes, this. I was reading on AO3 about how they have 7 million visitors per month (!!!) Partly I'm like YES, FANDOM and then also EEK, FANDOM. I've been seeing a lot more author's notes that include something along the lines of 'do not post on Goodreads, do not share with cast, do not share with the boys or anyone associated with the boys/band/producers, do not share on Twitter, ffs do not repost on Wattpad,' etc. and that is terrifying. I've always known that it's the internet, right, and nothing's ever totally private, which is fine! I want people to look at my stuff, that's part of being fannish (for me). Still, it's definitely getting harder to feel the fannish bubble.

Anyway, glad you got most everything worked out/taken down, and good luck with that last one, too. :)

Ugh - yes, the internet is public, yada - but I feel like... so fandom is in a public building that everyone can access, but you need to be able to find it in amongst fifteen zillion other buildings and shining a light on it means someone is standing outside yelling, come in here and look at what these losers are doing! They aren't hurting you, they're keeping to themselves so there's no reason to go and laugh at them but we're going to do it anyway, even if fandom is on the fourteenth floor of a non-descript fandom building that you wouldn't find otherwise.
