The Sadist, my car and I are safe in San Jose, and in a few hours I'll be getting the keys to my apartment, and then Ikea shopping.

Ha! No, it's actually not in San Jose proper. Was just in San Jose for the night but now at my apartment.

You're in...Foster City, right? That's about halfway between me and SF, but hey...easier to drive there for dinner than to Jersey. :P Keep us posted on your experiences; it'd be fun to have a fresh set of (East Coast) eyes analyzing the West Coast experience.
