Animation: Leftovers

Er, whoops, so it's been some time since I've posted. Going to be dumping some things, apologies for the spam.

Anyways, this is left over from my animation class from my first semester.

It did not come out as well as I hoped, mainly from lack of time. I think I made the mistake of making the grass fur, which would only render in mentalray, which meant it'd take forever to render. I think one version took over 12 hours just for a simple ten second animation. Yeah. There's also a whole lot of weird artefacting going on in the mushroom blend shapes, which I can't understand since it looked perfect in Maya Software. Bleh.

Also had to teach myself displacement maps for the mushroom too. My professor only mentioned casually how to do a simple one, despite me asking her. Ah well, even for that exercise, it was worth it.

I reused Paws, my bird character from an exercise from another previous entry. Liked him a lot. UV mapped him (poorly, but it works), made up the scene, modeled everything, lit, rig, and then animated.

I still really like working with this character, and hopefully I'll get to work on him some more, and perhaps even properly model him and texture him as well.

For a first semester animation class, not bad. I still have issues with the professor (more to her methods than anything else), but alas. I have an A for the class.
