friends page is a wasteland, yes. you are the only person in the world that i've ever actually met face to face who ever posts anything to my friends page. makes me sad. i was just thinking the other day (i think i twatted about it) how i miss the social networking that livejournal used to provide, back when my friends were on here. it was more in depth than anything facebook or twitter provides. how much can you say in 140 characters, really? or the 440 facebook gives you. maybe i'm just romanticizing the past, which i know is all too easy to do, but it's how it seems to me. fb and twitter seem like boiled down, cheapened, lobotomized versions of livejournal. or, at least, of the impossible idealization livejournal could be but never quite was.

The thing I don't get about FB is that 90% of the updates I get are only roughly twice the size of a twitter update, if that. Many are just "X is feeling blah."
The rest of my feed is people posting links. Some to really interesting stuff, granted, but none of the above is anything one can't do on Twitter. Links, photos, music, it's all there, only it has a number of great, functional apps, is easily portable and no incredibly annoying ads
