When did "my bad" become an acceptable form of an apology?

i thought this same thing today when some kid pushed me into a wall totally on purpose today to be funny to his friends, then said "my bad". i was seriously going to kick him in the balls right then and there and be like "oops, MY bad"

you should have! he may not have gotten the message but at least he would have gotten what he deserved! haha
