All sorts of HP fandom fun has been going on in December, with more to come. (Warning: Lots of exclamation points of joy ahead.)
My immediate news is that I have finished my story entry for
hoggywartyxmas and have also written my Host Post for the newly-minted Hoggywartyxmas Book Club.
Last year was the final year for Hoggywartyxmas as a one-on-one gift exchange. This year, we're trying a different format. We still accepted prompts, but not for an exchange. Anyone could accept any prompt (or write their own) and create anything they liked for it: fic, art, crafts, songs, food. . .the creative sky is the limit. We're also hosting a "Hoggywartyxmas Book Club," in which we pick a particular fanwork for discussion.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what treasures show up in this new Hoggywartyxmas (which will begin around Christmas, exact date TBA). This 14th iteration of the fest is really, truly the last one, so I do hope we go out with a bang.
And now, let's look at some HP prezzies for me!
Two talented and versatile authors/artists have continued their beloved traditions of accepting prompts and providing yuletide gifts for their HP friends. I've been lucky enough to receive offerings from both of them.
1.
torino10154 has written me another stellar Minerva/Severus story. This pairing is not her OTP, but she's kind enough to gift me with it nearly every year. I love her take on these characters. This year's gift of full of comfort and joy, Minerva- and Severus-style.

I asked for "unexpected trip to London" and "Just this one time." And Torino delivered!
Check out the rest of her December gifts, too -- Snarry, Harry/Draco, George Weasley, and more.
2.
mywitch has once again offered us her amazing "25 Days of Drawing." I swear, there is literally no character and no artistic style to which My Witch is not equal. Every entry is a present for all of us, but I got one made specifically for me.
I requested an illustration for any of my stories, and she came through with the following piece of delight:

Rating: SFW, more or less
This witty and clever work is based on my Minerva/Severus story
A Non-Christmas Non-Romance, in which Severus insists that he is interested in neither Christmas nor romance. He may fool himself, but he doesn't fool most readers. And he certainly failed to fool My Witch.
Don't forget to look at all the other entries in the "25 Days. . ." Every one is a treat
And speaking of treats, one of my fav writers,
squibstress, has written a kick-ass Minerva/Rolanda story. It's not specifically a present for me, but it might as well be. It captures exactly what I love about these characters and this pairing. Go read it!

Another facet of fun HP December is the
hprecs community on Dreamwidth and
here on Tumblr (as "hprecsfest"). The fest runs from December 1 to the 31st; there's a rec topic for each day.
I haven't had a chance to contribute more than one rec, but I plan to catch up. The format is flexible -- you don't have to do every day in order, and you can post more than one rec per topic. It's great fun. I've already added several wonderful-sounding works to my ever-lengthening "to read" list. You can post on DW or Tumblr or both.
And a thousand thanks to those who have included my works in their recs!
Finally, here's your chance for fandom immortality! Fanfic reader/lurker
jazzin_aster is writing a thesis in which they explore the issue of "digital legacy." They're looking to interview fan writers -- from any fandom -- about your sense of the "the personal digital legacy you create by writing fics." You'll stay anonymous.
I've already signed up. The topic sounds both interesting and fun.
You can read about the project
here at the LJ that Jazzin Aster created specifically for the thesis.
Please consider participating. Help out a fellow fan and ensure yourself fannish immortality at the same time!
And if that's not enough fandom fun to occupy your hours, I'd say you have too much time on your hands!
