Of course fruitcakes could be made badly, but so could pumpkin pasties or treacle tart, and you never heard anyone take open pride in disliking those. Such a great Pomonsa line. Not just because it's totally true about cakes, but also because it makes one ponder the cases where people do take pride in openly disliking them, and why. It's a really interesting thing to think about during mindless chores.

It is odd how often people are proud of their dislike of fruitcake. The same thing happens in the US with Halloween candy corn. For some reason, people aren't content with just not liking it; they have to turn their preference into a sign of moral superiority or something. It's definitely an issue to ponder.
